Autumn in New York

Like many people, I find New York a very inspiring place; particularly New York in the Fall. The best is the duality of, on the one hand, stopping by old favorite places that never fail to delight--the New York Public Library, Central Park, Marimekko, the High Line--and on the other hand discovering brand new glories--Fun Home (the best play I have ever seen in my life (and I've seen a lot of plays)), CW Pencil Enterprise (a beautiful little store entirely full of nothing but pencils (plus a few erasers))--and odd unexpected quirks and treasures--a house covered in eyeballs or a light-up ballarina dancing her heart out in the middle of Columbus Circle at ten o'clock at night.
